Below are some images to offer children and families a glimpse of what a typical therapy session with Peace Within may involve. Confidentiality is an important aspect of the therapeutic process, so I’ve either used photos in which the identity of participants is not revealed, or used non-clients to model some of the activities we do in typical sessions.
More traditional talk therapy sessions are always an option as well (especially for adolescents and adults), but most kids show more progress and engagement with a play based approach. Even adults can often benefit from some playfulness, whether it’s a bit humor incorporated into sessions, some sand or a fidget to keep their hands busy, a ball to toss around, or alternative options for expression, such as art or use of symbolic objects to illustrate emotions. No two sessions look the same at Peace Within because everyone has their own path towards peace and comfort with emotional expression. We embrace cultural diversity and neurodiversity, taking cues from our clients to find what works best for them as individuals.
Many of the photos below come from the the space I have share with Express Yourself Therapy, which provides speech and language, occupational, and physical therapy services.
